How to Verify AI Answers
Verification starts by separating format from truth. Clean output is not the same thing as correct output.
Check the Claim Type
Facts, instructions, summaries, recommendations, and code all fail differently. Identify what kind of answer you have before deciding how much checking it needs.
Look for Source Pressure
If the answer depends on current information, law, pricing, product details, medical guidance, or financial risk, it needs outside verification. Memory alone is not enough.
Verify the Parts That Matter
Do not try to re-check every word. Check the claims that would cause damage if wrong: names, dates, commands, URLs, dependencies, numbers, and implied guarantees.
Use Confidence Carefully
Confidence should come from evidence quality, not from how fluent the answer sounds. A polished answer can still be wrong.
